VERMICELLI ( Sevai)

This is one of the easiest and fastest breakfasts. Being one of my husband’s  favourite, I land up making this quite often, and due to lack of time and rush in the morning, I have learnt a fast and quick way which gives good results. Try it on your own, and you’ll agree with me…

INGREDIENTS (serves 4)

Sevai –bambino – 3 small cups

Water

2 tablespoon mustard oil (saron ka tel)

Vegetables (Potato, Onions, peas, Carrot, Beans)

Black Mustard seeds (sarson)

Salt to taste

Mustard (Haldi)

Fresh Green Chilli

Kadhi patta

Ginger (optional)

GARNISHING

Coriander leaves (hara dhaniya)

 METHOD

1.         Put Mustard oil in a pressure cooker and let it heat

2.         Once the oil is heated, put mustard seeds, slit green chillies and kadai patta.

3.         Once the mustard seeds start crackling, add ginger and diced onions. In the meantime dice the other vegetables. ( You can also use frozen veggies)

4.         Once the onions are light brown, add the other vegetables along with the Vermicelli.

5.         Keep stirring it with a spoon till they become a little brown. Now add enough water such that everything is just about submerged in water.

6.         Now pressure cook on high and let it whistle 3-4 times.

7.         Close the gas and let it stand for 5 mins.

8.         Garnish and serve hot with tea.
